Nov 28
Today we did a relay. Each partner had to run 12 times around the field. My partner, Devin, and I ran the relay in 22 minutes and 2 seconds, coming in second place. We finished the day with a 5 minute cool down jog.
Nov 26
Today we warmed up with a .53 mile jog that I ran in 5 minutes and 8 seconds. Then we stretched. Then we ran 2.37 miles in 21 minutes and 11 seconds. This run was pretty hilly, and hills are always tough for me, but overall I felt pretty good about this jog.

Nov 19
Today was the last teaching day. We started out with 5 minutes of jump rope. We did one minute easy, one medium, one hard, one medium, and finally one easy. I was pretty tired by the end of this. Then we did a relay exercise. One group ran laps while the other did crunches, and then we switched. Finally, I taught a workout that involved different moves that could be done inside. I felt that overall I got a pretty good workout in class today.

Nov 16
Today was another teaching day. We started out with a circuit exercise. The 3 stations were squats, "up-up-down-downs," and sit-ups. Next we went outside and learned how to run with proper posture, which I thought was helpful. Finally we learned how to pass the baton in relays, which I found interesting because I have never done track and so have never run a relay before.
Nov 14
Today was our second teaching day! First we did some abs workouts, which was nice because I need to do more of those! Then we did some fun skipping drills and played a game where we had to try to step on people's feet to get them out. Next, we went outside and learned some running technique, which I thought was super helpful!
Nov 12
Today was our first teaching day! First, we did some stretches and the played a Turkish game that was kind of like dodgeball. Then we did a scavenger hunt where we had to find a lucky penny, a flower, an acorn, a flyer for an upcoming event, and a Bodo's napkin, and say and receive hi's from 3 people. My group accomplished all of the tasks except for finding a lucky penny. I thought that both groups did a great job!

Nov. 7
Today we did the tape workout again. We did 2 minutes hard and 2 minutes easy a total of 3 times and finished class with a long cool down. This time I was able to beat my tape all 3 times as opposed to last time we did this workout when I only beat my tape once out of four times. I think this probably had a lot to do with my not completely understanding the concept of the workout the first time I did it, but I also think my my speed and pacing is improving as well.
Nov. 5
Today we did a 3 mile run. I forgot to start recording until after we had stopped to stretch, but I ran the distance that I recorded, 2.78 miles, in 24 minutes and 28 seconds. The hardest part of this run for me was the hill going up Grady. I need to work on keeping up my speed while going up hills. Other than that, I enjoyed this route.

Oct. 31
Today we did a short, quick jog. We did a half mile warm up and then ran 1.58 miles in 12 minutes and 13 seconds. That's an average of 7 minutes and 42 seconds a mile, which is pretty quick for me. I can tell that I'm building up my speed and endurance.

Oct. 26
Today we did a 3.39 mile circle run. We ran it in 30 minutes and 16 seconds, or an average of 8 minutes and 54 seconds a mile. This is faster than we have been running distance routes in the past. Despite the slightly quicker pace, I didn't have too much trouble keeping up with the group and actually quite enjoyed this run.
Oct. 24
Today we went back to the route that we had attempted to run last week but ended up getting lost and running almost a mile more than intended. This time we did the route backwards. I think we actually figured it out and ran the correct route. We ran 2.93 miles in 26 minutes and 26 seconds.
Oct. 22
Today we started with a 15 minute warm-up jog. We finished our warm-up at the track where we ran a timed mile. My mile time was 7:40. I haven't run a timed mile since my sophomore year of high-school, but this was a pretty good time compared to what I used to get in gym class. We finished class with a short cool-down jog.

Oct. 19
Today we did a tempo run. We did 2 intervals of 5 minute out and backs and a pace a little faster than a jog but not quite a sprint. I found that around minute 3 of each interval I broke my pace and slowed down. I missed Bingo the first time but just about hit it the second. After the Tempo run I ran 4 strides across the very muddy field.
Oct. 17
Today we did 4 out and backs with 3 minute intervals. We did them in a different location than we normally do, which made it difficult to gauge our pace and make it back at Bingo. I was pretty close a couple time but never actually made Bingo. I was always a little early because going out there was a slight incline and coming back a slight decline, and I couldn't quite compensate for that correctly.
Oct. 15
Today I ran a total of 3.8 miles in 35 minutes and 8 seconds. We were supposed to do a 3-mile loop but ended up getting a little lost along the way and running a little farther than intended. I didn't really mind though. I actually liked the fact that we got to run farther than usual and also see some new parts of Charlottesville.

Oct. 12
Today we did relays. Each partner had to run around the field a total of ten times. My partner, Devin, and I came in second place. We did have the advantage of the 3 second head start because we matched to a T. I was definitely pretty tired by the end of the relay, but I felt it was a good workout.
Oct. 10
Today we did the same very hilly 3 mile loop as we did on the 5th. However, this time we ran it backwards so the the uphill portion of the run was slightly shorter. This time I ran it in 27 minutes and 23 seconds, an improvement from last time. I still find it hard to keep up my pace when going uphill, and that's something I have to work on. I enjoy going downhill, though.

Oct. 5
Today we did a 3.41 mile long "circle run." I ran this route in 33 minute and 26 seconds. My group ran a little longer than the other group because we started off running the wrong way. This was a difficult run because we had to run up a giant hill. I actually didn't think it was ever going to end. While that portion of the run was a struggle, after we finally reached the top of the hill we got to run down it and after that it was pretty flat, so the last half of the run was pretty easy. I finished the run feeling like I got a good workout without being overworked.

Today we did there and backs. Today was a little different than what we have done in the past because we did intervals of 2 minutes and 30 seconds, so it was a longer distance than what we were used to. I was pretty good at pacing myself today. I hit "bingo" three out of the four intervals that we ran.

Today we did the tape workout. I liked this activity because we were moving the whole time and I felt like I got a good workout. However, it took me a while to get the hang of what we were doing. I was a little confused the first couple of rounds and I only beat my tape once. I would like to do this workout again though!

Sept. 28
I'm not really sure how far we ran today, but we ran to JPJ, ran a lap around the track, and then ran back to Mem Gym. We were jogging for a total of about 25 minutes. I'm not usually a fan of running on tracks, but I kind of liked the mixture of track and street route. I'm pretty worried about Monday though, since I have no idea what a "tape workout"is other than it involves running on the track and that I will need to be bringing plenty of water.
Sept. 26
Today we ran a 2 mile loop to the law school and back. We did this in speed intervals, with each member of the group taking turns to decide at what pace we would run for how long. I forgot to start recording until we had already started our jog, but from where I started recording I ran 2.24 miles in 20 minutes and 11 seconds. I enjoyed this workout, but sometimes I fell behind when we had to sprint. I'm not a good sprinter in the first place, so forcing myself to sprint in the middle of a jog can be rough.
Sept. 24
Today we ran on the lawn. We ran hard for 1 minute and 30 seconds and then jogged the rest of the way back to the starting position within another minute 30 seconds. We did this 4 times for a total of 12 minutes of jogging. I made it back to the starting position in time each time, and sometimes with a good amount of time to spare. We then went on a long cool down jog from the lawn back to Mem Gym.

Sept. 21
Today I ran 2.5 miles in 21 minutes and 20 seconds. I really enjoyed the route we took today, which took us to the law school and was a little more scenic that the routes we've run in the past. After our run we ran 5 hills. It was kind of terrifying because the hill was steep and wet.

Today we did there and backs. We ran for 1 minute and thirty seconds then turned around and tried to make it back in the same amount of time. We did this four times. I hit "bingo" 3 out of the 4 times. This was an improvement from the last time we did there and backs.

Sept. 17
Today I ran 2.07 miles in 18 minutes and 37 seconds. I felt really good during the first mile but slowed down during the second. I've noticed that my mile time is getting faster. I just have to work on building endurance so that I can keep it up.

Sept. 14
Today we warmed up with a lap around the tennis courts and field. Then we ran 4 1:30 there and backs. I made it back in under 3:00 2 out of the 4 times. We finished with a cool down lap and stretching. Running felt a little harder today because I'm congested from a cold, but I felt good after the workout.

Sept. 12
Today I ran 2.5 miles in 23 minutes and 6 seconds. This was the farthest distance I have run in a while. I definitely slowed down in the last half mile, but felt pretty good for the majority of the run. I can already see that my endurance is improving.

Today I ran 2.15 miles in 19 minutes and 15 seconds. I used an app called Map My Run to record my workout. I found this route much easier today than the first time I ran it and was able to keep up with the rest of my group pretty easily. I even had enough energy to run back to my dorm after class!
