Nov 28

Today we did a relay. Each partner had to run 12 times around the field. My partner, Devin, and I ran the relay in 22 minutes and 2 seconds, coming in second place. We finished the day with a 5 minute cool down jog.

Nov 26

Today we warmed up with a .53 mile jog that I ran in 5 minutes and 8 seconds. Then we stretched. Then we ran 2.37 miles in 21 minutes and 11 seconds. This run was pretty hilly, and hills are always tough for me, but overall I felt pretty good about this jog.

Nov 19

Today was the last teaching day. We started out with 5 minutes of jump rope. We did one minute easy, one medium, one hard, one medium, and finally one easy. I was pretty tired by the end of this. Then we did a relay exercise. One group ran laps while the other did crunches, and then we switched. Finally, I taught a workout that involved different moves that could be done inside. I felt that overall I got a pretty good workout in class today.

Nov 16

Today was another teaching day. We started out with a circuit exercise. The 3 stations were squats, "up-up-down-downs," and sit-ups. Next we went outside and learned how to run with proper posture, which I thought was helpful. Finally we learned how to pass the baton in relays, which I found interesting because I have never done track and so have never run a relay before.

Nov 14

Today was our second teaching day! First we did some abs workouts, which was nice because I need to do more of those! Then we did some fun skipping drills and played a game where we had to try to step on people's feet to get them out. Next, we went outside and learned some running technique, which I thought was super helpful!

Nov 12

Today was our first teaching day! First, we did some stretches and the played a Turkish game that was kind of like dodgeball. Then we did a scavenger hunt where we had to find a lucky penny, a flower, an acorn, a flyer for an upcoming event, and a Bodo's napkin, and say and receive hi's from 3 people. My group accomplished all of the tasks except for finding a lucky penny. I thought that both groups did a great job!

Nov. 7

Today we did the tape workout again. We did 2 minutes hard and 2 minutes easy a total of 3 times and finished class with a long cool down. This time I was able to beat my tape all 3 times as opposed to last time we did this workout when I only beat my tape once out of four times. I think this probably had a lot to do with my not completely understanding the concept of the workout the first time I did it, but I also think my my speed and pacing is improving as well.
